Owned by our vendor for the last 24 years; originally issued to the
Dutch military; UK registered; runs and drives
This
1960 Jeep M38A1 has been in the vendor's ownership for approximately 24 years
and, although little used, is reported to run and drive. Originally supplied for
Dutch military service, it was imported into the UK and registered here in 1994,
having previously been sold by well-known military vehicle specialists Jacksons
of Doncaster.
The M38A1 was the military
development of the Jeep and introduced the distinctive rounded bonnet and wings
later seen on the civilian CJ-5. Dutch-built and assembled examples were
produced for the Royal Netherlands Army through the 1950s and early
1960s.
The vehicle retains its military-style
specification, including olive drab finish, canvas hood, military seating and
equipment. The identification plate records chassis number MD15928 and engine
number MD116253. The speedometer is marked in kilometres and currently shows
6,944km, but this cannot be taken as a verified of course.
OFF 191 has been regularly MOT tested during its UK life and is now
both tax and MOT exempt. The registration number is non-transferable. It is
accompanied by its V5C, old-style log book and seven previous MOT
certificates.
Having seen very little use during
the current 24-year ownership, it has nevertheless been kept and maintained. The
vehicle presents in honest, usable condition with some age-related wear to the
paint, canvas and interior.
An unusually
long-term owned ex-Dutch military M38A1, retaining its original military
character and an interesting UK history.
