1976 Reliant Scimitar GTE
manual; recent extensive restoration carried out; body off chassis repaint;
brakes will require attention before road use; running and driving; Tax and MOT
exempt; stainless steel exhaust fitted
An extensively
restored example of Reliant’s distinctive Scimitar GTE, showing eight former
keepers and finished in White with a Blue cloth interior. First registered in
April 1976, this example is powered by the 2,994cc engine with manual
transmission.
The recent restoration appears
to have been particularly comprehensive, extending well beyond the bodywork.
Photographs included with the car show the extent of the work undertaken,
including the chassis being removed from the body and powder coated in Red. The
underside appears to have received the same level of attention as the exterior,
while the engine also appears to have benefited from some work, although details
of this have not been documented.
The Blue cloth interior
remains largely standard and is in good condition for its age and mileage. The
speedometer currently shows just 4,088 miles, although this is believed to
actually be 104,088 miles and cannot be verified.
The history file
includes numerous photographs documenting the restoration together with invoices
showing some of the expenditure over the years.
Please note that
the brakes are currently inoperative. The vendor believes the master cylinder
may be at fault and has supplied a replacement master cylinder, which is
included in the boot. The car will therefore need to be towed away and the
braking system rectified before any road use.
Since arriving on
site, the Scimitar has been starting and running for photography and a short
video.
An exciting opportunity to
acquire a comprehensively restored and increasingly collectable Scimitar GTE,
now requiring attention to the braking system before returning to the
road.
