The Mini Cooper Mk II is
one of the most iconic British performance cars ever built, combining legendary
motorsport pedigree with unmistakable styling. Genuine Mk II Cooper models
are increasingly sought after, particularly those restored to a high
standard.
First registered in June 1969,
this genuine Austin Mini Cooper Mk II is powered by the original 998cc
engine paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Finished in white with a
contrasting black roof and black leatherette interior, it has had 10 former
keepers and has been with the current vendor since November
2022.
Although only a small history
file accompanies the car, it has benefitted from a comprehensive nut-and-bolt
restoration.
The original engine has been fully rebuilt along with the
carburettors, while a new starter motor, dynamo and complete Auto Sparks wiring
loom have been fitted. The Hydrolastic suspension units have been fully
refurbished with new pipework, complemented by new disc brakes, handbrake cable
and a refurbished interior including the seats, door cards and
carpets.
The bodyshell was completely stripped, ice blasted and repaired
with new panels where required before being refinished, while four new Cooper
steel wheels with new tyres and the correct Cooper boot board complete the
restoration.
Included in the sale are two
previous MOT certificates and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Heritage
Certificate confirming the factory records. The vendor advises the Mini starts,
drives and stops as you would expect and it was driven on site for photography
and filming.
Beautifully restored and ready
to be enjoyed, this genuine Mk II Cooper is equally at home on scenic
drives, classic car shows or perhaps even a trip to Turin in true Italian Job
style.
